Chicago is experiencing a shortage of talent. There are currently over 75 postings on the AIA "Architectural Job Board", including ours, which received a total of two responses. The candidate pool is very shallow these days. We used to have the appeal of being in the City, however remote working is allowing some to take jobs further from home, and in other states.
With our increasing work-flow, and short-staffing, burn-out is a primary concern. To decrease over-time, our timelines are extending, which translates to disgruntled clients. Setting realistic expectations with clients is critical.
