In 2007, Dubuque, Iowa hosted a Sustainable Design Assessmyent Team (SDAT) to look at a number of issues ranging from smart growth and sustainable development to stormwater management and flood mitigation. Ten years later, the city is seeing the outcomes of its implementation work. Between 1999 and 2011, the city was subject to six presidential disaster declarations as repeated flooding events occurred in the Bee Branch Creek Watershed. From March 9-13th, the Center for Communities by Design conducted "Reimagine Dublin One," a design assistance project with a joint European and American team. The 4-day process involved over 200 people and produced an 80-page final report with a series of key recommendations to revitalize the neighborhood. The project was a part of Framework, a broader initiative to adapt the design assistance process to Irish communities.
