Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects respect the Modernist legacy of orthogonal, functional minimalism, but place it in a wider context of earthen, material richness. A married team of architects that have been working together since 1977 and formed their New York City–based practice in 1986, Tod Williams, and Billie Tsien have used the intervening decades to design a celebrated portfolio of overwhelmingly public cultural and institutional buildings: university facilities, libraries, museums, etc. As such, their design language embodies the idealized traits of the body politic: contemplative, enlightened, humble, eloquent, granular, and diverse in its individual details, but unified in purpose and intent. An Interview with Rand Elliott
“Architectural Portraits” best describes the design approach of Rand Elliott, FAIA. Each project is conceived as a direct reflection of the client personality or business goals. Since the inception of the firm in 1976, the firm has received 289 international, national, regional and local awards including ten National AIA Honor Awards.
Rand is a Past President of the Central Oklahoma Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and was Program Chairman from 1995 – 2002. In 2002, he participated in the prestigious Bruce Goff Fellowship lecture series at the University of Oklahoma. In March of 2004, Rand was one of eight featured lecturers at the prestigious “Emerging Voices” lecture series presented by the Architectural League of New York. Rand was awarded the Central Oklahoma Chapter of the AIA William Wayne Caudill Award in 2005, which recognizes an individual member who has displayed a long-standing commitment to the betterment of the architectural profession. In November of 2006, Rand was inducted into Interior Design Magazine’s Hall of Fame which was established to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to the growth and prominence of the design field. In October of 2007, Oklahoma State University inducted Rand into the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology’s Hall of Fame.

An Interview with Todd DeGarmo
From the age of five, Todd DeGarmo knew he wanted to be an architect. Today he heads STUDIOS Architecture, an international design practice recognized for innovation in both buildings and interiors. A graduate of the University of Cincinnati, Todd joined STUDIOS’ Washington, DC office over twenty years ago. In 1995, he founded the New York office and in 2005 was named the firm’s CEO.
Todd has guided organizations such as IAC, Dow Jones, the Department of Defense, and Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe to envision new work environments. A strong proponent of sustainable design, he is currently leading the renovation of the American Institute of Architects headquarters, which will be carbon neutral by 2030.
Todd’s work has received numerous awards and has been featured in publications such as The New York Times, WIRED Magazine, Metropolis, Business Week, and Architectural Record. Todd is a member of the Partnership for New York City and a Trustee of the University of Cincinnati Foundation. He is on the Board of the New York Restoration Project, the Museum of the City of New York, and the National Building Museum.
Todd is a GSA Design Excellence Peer Reviewer and a Fellow in the American Institute of Architects. In 2007 he was inducted into Interior Design Magazine’s Hall of Fame and in 2010 was the recipient of a Doctor of Fine Arts, Honorary Degree from Gettsyburg College.

An Interview with Clive Wilkinson
Clive Wilkinson is an architect, designer, writer and strategist with particular expertise in the application of urban design thinking to workplace and educational communities. He was born in South Africa and educated in the United Kingdom. His practice, Clive Wilkinson Architects, was established in Los Angeles in 1991, and is an acknowledged global leader in workplace design.
In 2005, Clive was inducted into the Interior Design ‘Hall of Fame’. In 2006, he was named as a ‘Master of Design’ by Fast Company magazine and a 2011 ‘Pioneer of Design’ by the IIDA NC. He is a former Board Director of the American Institute of Architects/Los Angeles and a member of the GSA National Peer Registry. He has served as a keynote speaker at global media, advertising and design conferences, and has contributed to radio and television shows on architecture and design affairs. Clive’s work was selected in both 2010 and 2011 as a Finalist in the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum Design Awards. Since its inception, his practice has received over 75 design awards, and is published regularly in a variety of international media.

An Interview With Lauren Rottet
Lauren Rottet is one of the most-celebrated interior architects today with an extraordinary record of awards, publications, and honors. Ms. Rottet is a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects, a Fellow of the International Interior Design Association, a member of the Interior Design Hall of Fame, and a Designer of the Year. In 2006, Rottet was inducted as an Inaugural Member of the Women in Design Hall of Fame.
Building upon a 25-year, highly acclaimed corporate design career, Ms. Rottet has created a striking new presence in hospitality design with the highly acclaimed Surrey Hotel in Manhattan’s Upper East Side and new bungalows at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Ms. Rottet finds the design of the interior environment particularly challenging and satisfying, combining psychology, theater, art, and architecture with the use of unlimited media. Rottet Studio has offices in Houston, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Shanghai.
