Construction Challenges Currently Facing Senior Living Development

Hosted by the Design for Aging Knowledge Community on September 18, 2023.

Whether you are planning a new community, constructing a new addition or repositioning an existing community, we all are aware of the challenges of the past two years facing the construction industry related to rising material and labor costs, supply chain issues and unpredictable delivery schedules. This webinar will provide insight into past factors and an update on the current market dynamics affecting senior living construction.

Brendan Baloh and Jay Cougnet of Whiting-Turner Contracting Co. will present their unique perspective on what 2023 has been like and how the second half of the year appears to be unfolding. They will also suggest strategies to achieve a cost-effective project with some predictability in the schedule.

Learning objectives

  • Understand the past and current market dynamics impacting construction schedules and costs.
  • Understand what other factors can drive construction costs.
  • Learn what factors affect contractor/subcontractor bids.
  • Understand what design professionals can do to help educate clients and help mitigate some of the risks associated with supply delays and cost inflation.
