Our Mission

The Design for Aging (DFA) is one of the twenty-one ways to make an impact through the AIA Knowledge Communities.

The mission of the Design for Aging Knowledge Community (DFA) is to foster design innovation and disseminate knowledge necessary to enhance the built environment and quality of life for an aging society.

Get involved!

The American Institute of Architects actively promotes a diverse profession, including race, religion, gender, national origin, age, disability or sexual orientation. We strive to be an inclusive Knowledge Community representing diversity of thought, geographic diversity, both traditional and non-traditional practice and as well as providing opportunities for seasoned professionals, associate members, and young architects.

We're looking for enthusiastic people who want to help make our profession better. If you have an interest in becoming active in a leadership role, please reach out to staff or anyone on our advisory group.
