Who we are

The Committee on Architecture for Education (CAE) is a Knowledge Community of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). We are a large and active group of over 10,000 architects and allied professionals concerned with the quality and design of all types of educational, cultural, and recreational facilities that promote lifelong learning in safe, welcoming and equitable environments. The CAE’s mission is to foster innovative and collaborative design of educational facilities and to heighten public awareness on the importance of learning environments.

  

CAE research call with Jennifer Seydel, PhD

On Friday, December 6th the AIA-CAE research call featured Jennifer Seydel, PhD, Executive Director of the Green Schools National Network. She covered the resources that the Network provides both for Accelerator and Transitional schools. These include goal-setting exercise for the schools, webinars and continuing education for teachers and administrators and the thematic Green Notes newsletters. The Network also publishes the peer-reviewed Green Schools Catalyst Quarterly which is dedicated to the advancement of green, healthy, sustainable K-12 schools. They are also currently looking for editors so please take a look. 

Jenny highlighted the work of the Environmental Charter Schools in Los Angeles and Whitewater Middle School in Charlotte, NC as well as showed images of their transformations. For more information please visit the links below.
