The Academy of Architecture for Justice (AAJ) promotes and fosters the exchange of information and knowledge between members, professional organizations, and the public for high-quality planning, design, and delivery of justice architecture.
This panel of experts in fields of public health, psychology, epidemiology, and architecture will reflect on the unique vulnerabilities of correctional facilities and the people who live and work within them, exploring the architectural and operational challenges that were exacerbated by the introduction and spread of COVID-19. The panel will share their experiences as they apply the science of epidemiology, human behavior, and evidence-based infectious disease mitigation to the built environment, proposing potential solutions for improving the capacity of the public health and public safety systems to respond to a pandemic. Attendees will gain insight from the decades of experience in architectural and operational aspects of public health and criminal justice facilities who have studied this issue closely, and will identify considerations for future planning, design, and facility operation.00:58:48
