The Academy of Architecture for Justice (AAJ) promotes and fosters the exchange of information and knowledge between members, professional organizations, and the public for high-quality planning, design, and delivery of justice architecture.
The critique of the Justice System as inflexible and overly reliant on carcerial approaches has led to experiments with alternative court ordered supervision in lieu of Cash Bail and/or detention, with the services provided by Community based Not for Profit organizations such as the Center for Court Innovation. This approach reduces harmful incarceration and increases the likelihood of positive outcomes. Coupled with a suite of programs aimed at violence interruption and the needs of at risk youth, CCi is making a difference in communities.
