AIA-AAJ Conference 2011: Forensic Science Facilities “When a Laboratory is Not a Laboratory”

This session will present a discussion on what makes a forensic laboratory project unique. You will learn what building types fall under the umbrella of “forensic science facility”. You will learn the specific spaces and functions which could typically be included in a forensic project. The presentation will also highlight some of the unique functions and design features which impact the design of these specialized facilities. Case studies of completed forensic facilities will be included to highlight the unique features. This presentation will include lessons learned via a Crime Laboratory Director’s perspective on his expectation and experiences encountered during the design and construction of a recently completed state-of-art crime laboratory.
