This session will focus on two unique alternative delivery methods for civic projects: First, the California AOC ’s first Design Assist project, a court-set renovation in Fairfield, CA . The project included new accessible courtrooms, holding, chambers, and support space in an existing building with a variety of unknowns. Second, a Best Value, Design-Build Competition for a central utility plant, designed for California’s DGS , located in downtown Sacramento. The delivery method allowed flexibility that eventually allowed the DGS -Central Plant Renovation to become a replacement project, resulting in one of the most efficient plants in the country, recently certified LEED Platinum. This panel discussion will examine these alternate delivery methods and outcomes with input from the architect, contractor and owner, reviewing their impact on the poetic and pragmatic.#LawEnforcementTrack #2011AAJConference
