Cheryl Smith, AIA, LEED AP | VP, Regional Practice Leader, NELSON Worldwide

At NELSON, Cheryl leads mixed-use and hospitality teams in boldly transforming all dimensions of the human experience with purpose, design and performance focus.  Cheryl is an active member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and a member of the U.S. Green Building Council achieving the status of LEED AP. In addition, she is an executive member of several national boards and organizations including AIA Building Performance Knowledge Community, AIA Manufacturers Council, and Co-Chairs the College of Architecture & the Built Environment’s Advancement Council at Jefferson University. Cheryl has authored several articles on sustainability and hospitality design, has appeared as a guest critic, and has presented on building performance topics at several national conferences including BEST5, Glass Con Global, and AIA National Convention. She served as AIA Liaison to the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) and the Building Enclosure Technology and Environmental Council (BETEC) for 7 years and in 2018 received the Institutes’ Member Award for service to NIBS and chairing the BEST5 National Conference.
