Bio

Micheal Lough, Principal and founder of Integral Consulting (2006), a consulting practice specializing in various services for owners, project management firms and architects including building enclosure consulting, peer reviews, property condition assessment, specifications, and building code and accessibility and code reviews. Integral Consulting is looking to add Building Enclosure Commissioning to the services we provide. Mike is a member of the AIA Commissioning Working Group, authored the AIA Best Practice (11.11.04) Building Enclosure Commissioning: An Introduction, presented Exterior Enclosure Commissioning: NIBS Guideline 3-2012 & ASTM E2813-12 at the Greener by Design conference hosted by CSI and USGBC, and has earned the Building Enclosure Knowledge certification (CxA+BE) and the Commissioning Authority + Building Enclosure certification (BECxP) certification from the University of Wisconsin program for Commissioning Process Providers. Mr. Lough has an extensive background in managing and providing technical services for large commercial projects including high-rise residential, office buildings, schools, hotels, retail and mixed-use projects. Being involved in managing project for better than 25 years prior to forming Integral Consulting Mike developed a passion for the quality of services provided in all phases, mentoring, and technical aspects of projects and brings that passion to Integral Consulting and to his contributions to the AIA. Mr. Lough authored 12.3 Checklists, and the Backgrounders The One-Year Walk-Through and Document Audits / Peer Reviews of the 15th Edition of the Architect’s Handbook of Professional Practice, numerous QM Best Practices including Schematic Design QM Phase Checklist, Design Development QM Phase Checklist and With Less Rework Productivity Increases as Quality Improves. Mike also wrote and The Rainscreen Principle published in the second 2013 TDBP Newsletter. For calendar years 2014 and 2015 Mike is leading the “Technique” Newsletters effort for the TDBP with focuses on broad practice concepts and on Whole Building Commissioning for the first two issues.
