Bio

Ed Haysom has built a Brisbane practice based on designing multi-unit residential, retail
commercial buildings in particular resorts and hospitality projects. He is the principal of
Haysom Architects; a Brisbane based 15 person architectural firm. He has been an AIA member since 1978.

He has had an interest in master planning and design for major projects. Two examples of
this are the Lindeman Island and Byron Bay Beach Club projects for Club Med, and most
recently the award winning Byron at Byron resort for Harvey Norman as well as Springfield
tower at Springfield which represents the beginning of the CBD of the new city. The firm has won several design awards in the last 8 years.

Ed has also been both Chapter President as well as National President of the Royal
Australian Institute of Architects. He is an honorary Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Architects

Ed has been three time member of the RAIA National Design Awards Jury serving twice as
chair, and has also chaired the Brisbane Jury.

He has served on a number of Government and City Council boards such as the Museum of Brisbane
Advisory Board, as well as various task forces.

He is presently the deputy chair of the Queensland Government’s Major Festivals Board
and is on the Brisbane City Council Lord Mayor's Design Advisory Panel. He also serves on the executive committee that is restoring City Hall - a $200milion project

He has been a long serving member of the Australian delegation to the APEC negotiations on international
trade in architectural services.

Ed was awarded the AIA Presidential Medal in 2001 and the Australian Government Centenary Medal in 2002 for services to architecture.

He has this year established an office in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam
