Bio

Born in Watsonville, CA, 1942. After graduation from UC Berkeley, lived in Washington DC from 1966 to 1977. First licensed in Washington in 1972. Staff architect with the Federal Bureau of Prisons from 1974 to 1984. Transferred to BOP regional office in California in 1977. Married to Jeanne for 40 years, two children, two grandchildren. Helped form AIA San Mateo County Chapter in 1982 and served as president in 1985. Served on AIACC Board of Directors for 5 years. Opened my own office in San Mateo in 1987 doing criminal justice consulting. Served as a volunteer damage assessment inspector in Oakland after 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake. Organized a travelling seminar program for architects in California seeking training in damage assessment procedures prescribed by the California Office of Emergency Services. Trained approximately 1,500 architects throughout California to serve as damage assessment inspectors deployable to sites of earthquake disasters. Elevated to the College of Fellows at the AIA Convention in San Francisco in 1998. Member of the California Architects Board Regulatory and Enforcement Committee since 1998. Closed my office in 2009 in response to the recession and continue to take on small, local projects. Served as a damage assessment inspector for the City of San Bruno after the 2010 San Bruno natural gas line explosion.
