Bio

Bruce Cousins AIA established his own firm in 1976 in Denver, Colorado. In 1981 he joined the national land planning and landscape architecture firm HOH Associates in Denver. He established the Architecture Department. The firm provided land planning and Architectural design services throughout the United States with offices in Denver and Washington DC. The firm was sold in 1989 to a national firm. Bruce established his Cousins Design Group to provide traditional Architectural services. transition consulting and IPD process management services.

In 2006 Cousins was hired by The Weitz Company, an ENR top 400 construction firm. Here as Senior Manager of Virtual Design and Construction, he implemented VDC BIM processes and other operational process changes to implement technological and process excellence project delivery.

In 2012 Bruce joined Turner Construction as the Lean Regional Manager for Northern California. There he assisted project teams in adopting Lean, VDC/BIM, continious improvement and integrated project delivery.

In 2015 he established Sword Integrated Building Solutions to provide Architects, Engineers and Contractors BIM/Lean project coaching, planning and operations strategy. The firm’s Design services clients have included several national engineering firms and top 100 general contractors. He is certified to teach 7-Units of the AGC Lean-CM course and is registered consultant for Lean Construction Institute. He is a frequent presenter and blogger about collaborative Teaming,Leadership, non traditional production planning and Design Management.
