I am a licensed architect (Virginia and District of Columbia) with my NCARB certificate and PMP certification. I am always looking for new connections in architecture as well as in other industries.
My current work is focused on growing and developing a department that is centered on documenting existing conditions in commercial and retail projects by leveraging 3-D scanning technology in conjunction with manual field documentation.
My degree is in Architecture (Masters) with a focus on Historic Preservation (Certificate) and my work experience spans the gamut of sectors including: residential, academic, commercial, retail, municipal, recreation, and government projects. I have worked on projects through all stages from Pre-Design through Construction Administration and close out. I have my own small firm.
I have worked as a Project, IT, and CAD manager. I have been a Manager at a non-profit association of regulatory boards where I managed our exam statistics, audited our internal processes, and investigated and reviewed potential security, copyright infringement issues, and breaches of exam content. I have managed teams of architectural staff and subcontractors including coordinating schedules, deliverables and workflow between multiple stakeholders and teams. I have also owned and operated two separate small architecture firms, one which focused on small single family residential renovations and another that focused on small commercial projects and provided consulting services. I currently own a fiber arts business where I sell a curated collection of fiber products including our own hand-dyed yarn and spinning fiber.
I am an alumni of the Virginia Society AIA's 2012 Class of Emerging Leaders in Architecture. As part of this program we all completed the Strengthsfinder 2.0 diagnostic tool: my top 5 strengths are Achiever, Input, Ideation, Strategic, Responsibility. In the past, I have worked with successive classes and developed my own tools to analyze and review their strengths as a team. I am also an INTJ personality type (MBTI) and excel at leadership and strategic challenges.
I am active in the AIA; I have previously served as a member of the Board of Directors of my local and state AIA chapters and have served as the co-chair of the AIA Virginia Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion committee in 2023. I have a focus on diversity and equity within the industry, specifically aimed at LGBTQ+ issues.
