Bio

Kevin joined The Freelon Group in 2003, advancing to the level of Principal in 2012 . He is a tireless advocate for architectural excellence, having contributed to many of Freelon’s award winning projects including the Harvey B. Gantt Center, the Central Regional Hospital, the Durham County Human Services Complex, and the School of Education building at NC A&T State University.

As leader of Freelon’s Healthcare sector, Mr. Turner applies a decade of experience delivering hospitals, clinics and healthcare training facilities to clients requiring excellence in project planning, design and oversight. As a hands-on leader at Freelon, he has been responsible for the design of over 1.5 million S.F. of healthcare space. His detailed oriented approach, knowledge of building technology and calm leadership have been an asset to clients across the Healthcare sector.

As head of Freelon’s Technical Group, Mr. Turner is responsible for overseeing the technical aspects of our practice which is critical to the firm’s melding of design excellence and technology. His commitment to the delivery of the highest quality documentation is exemplary, yielding a distinguished portfolio of superbly articulated building projects. Kevin works closely with design team members, ensuring that each possesses the knowledge and skill necessary to deliver responsive solutions that serve the client’s specific needs.

Kevin is a native of Georgia, and earned a B.Arch. from the University of Miami. Prior to joining Freelon, he spent ten years practicing in Atlanta, GA and Washington, DC. He is a LEED Accredited Professional, certified by the Construction Specification Institute, and a member of the American Institute of Architects.
