Arthur D. Kjos AIA, NCARB, ASHE
Art Kjos leads Clark/Kjos Architects technical design and facilities management services with 30 years of experience in healthcare and public facilities. He solves complex problems through teamwork and cost control that give clients high value for their budgets.
His skills include team coordination, code interpretation, cost-saving construction and advanced computer proficiency. From onsite services in over 30 years, Art understands facility construction and is an active participant and presenter at related facility management conferences.
RECENT REPRESENTATIVE EXPERIENCE
Grande Ronde Hospital, La Grande, Oregon - Led initial building survey to assess codes, managed subsequent projects over fourteen years. Planned construction work to maintain hospital functions during projects from $200,000 to $4 million. Implemented onsite workshops, computer interface and video conferencing with facility staff for rapid response to client goals. The Facility received a national award for it’s maternity project.
Willamette Falls Hospital, Oregon City, Oregon – structured a series of planning workshops to create a 5/10/20/40 year “framework development plan” that will guide development over that time period.
Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital, Lebanon, Oregon - Coordinated project and team efforts for the last 12 years including value-engineering to fit project budgets. Expanded hospital includes outpatient services center, expanded diagnostic departments, new circulation system. Current projects include a classroom center to host a joint venture with Linn Benton Community College’s training programs for nursing assistants and radiology technologists.
Ashland Community Hospital, Ashland, Oregon - Facility survey, management of three-city team for a series of expansion/remodel projects over the last 12 years.
Swedish Medical Center, Seattle, Washington – Structured and led a facilities survey and code evaluations of over 2.5 million square feet of buildings for JCAHO Environment of Care. Survey included over 3M of facility upgrades. Art has participated on the JCAHO compliance team since 1996.
