The AIA Academy of Architecture for Health's Research Initiatives Committee has just downloaded another one of three new "bench-marking" case studies today.   This 2020 AIA/AAH Healthcare Design Award winning project is the Duke Student Wellness Center on the Duke University Campus located in Durham, North Carolina and was designed by Duda Paine Architects. The Center's welcoming three-story lobby reaches out to the neighboring Duke Forest and serves as a central 'living room' for students. The lobby also serves as an orientating 'umbrella' under which clinical, health and wellness resources come together.  Blurring the distinction between interior and exterior, the open structure infuses the building with natural light to positively impact user's psychological and physiological state. We have also added the introductory 2-page spread to pique your interest.  Go to the Case Study Library to see the rest of this Case Study.

The American Institute of Architects recognized the project as one of the best in the nation, awarding it a 2020 AIA/AAH Healthcare Design Award.

We now have forty-four (44) Case Studies of the 2013 through 2020 AIA Academy of Architecture for Health's Award-Winning Projects in the Library.  We have drafted, and continue to draft, more of the 2018, 2019 and 2020 Award Winning projects Case Studies; and we will be submitting more of them over the next few weeks.  We have also started the 2021 Award Winning Projects as well and will be adding some of these 2021 Award Winning Case Studies soon.
