The mission of the AIA Design for Aging (DFA) Knowledge Community is to foster design innovation and disseminate knowledge necessary to enhance the built environment and quality of life for an aging society. This includes relevant research on characteristics, planning and costs associated with innovative design for aging. In addition, DFA provides outcome data on the value of these design solutions and environments.

The Facility Guidelines Institute (FGI) has formed a work group to study and make recommendations about bedroom capacity (the number of residents in a bedroom) for new assisted living and nursing home construction for the 2026 Guidelines for Residential Health, Care and Support Facilities. The work group is early in the information gathering process and has developed this brief survey to solicit feedback on this topic from interested parties.If you work in senior living design or are a provider, we highly encourage you to click the appropriate link below to complete this short survey by March 17, 2023.
