Who we are

The AIA Project Delivery Knowledge Community (PD) promotes the architect’s leadership role in all project delivery methods by assembling and distributing knowledge and best practices for a variety of project delivery methods, e.g. design-build (DB), integrated project deliveries (IPD), and public-private partnerships (P3).

Hosted by the AIA Project Delivery knowledge community on March 7-9, 2023, owners, architects, engineers, and constructors join to discuss the latest strategies for driving successful project outcomes including best practices, allocating risk, and emerging technologies. The symposium highlights how architects are leading project delivery strategies, resulting in improved project outcomes, collaborative teams, reduced cost, reduced schedule, enhanced sustainability goals, and reduced carbon footprint.

Tuesday: The first panel on Tuesday will examine how construction technologies manage risk in project delivery, and successes of engaging Virtual Design & Construction early in project conversations. After a break, join the second session to learn the current trends of AI (artificial intelligence) and application of AI in design teams and design decisions.

Wednesday: The building sector is a significant contributor to carbon dioxide and energy consumption. The first panel on Wednesday will present project delivery research and the impact on achieving high performance building goals. The second panel reviews TCO (total cost of ownership) assessments in meeting the bottom line, value creation, and sustainability goals.

Thursday: Owners in different industry sectors pose their own unique project delivery challenges. The first session is a presentation on healthcare market trends and the impact on the built environment and project delivery. The second session is a presentation on a digital planning platform called PLANNER being implemented by the Army Corps of Engineers to integrate smart city planning, climate resiliency, and siting of buildings.
