Who we are

The Committee on Design (COD) was founded to promote design excellence among members of the AIA, the broader design community, and the public at large, both nationally and internationally.

2022 COD Conferences

The next domestic conference is scheduled for Wednesday, October 19 thru Sunday, October 23 in Los Angeles.  An international conference is not planned for 2022 or 2023.

Who or what is Architizer? This ubiquitous entity offers no readily available information as to how it is constituted, and affords no opportunity to comment on its posts. Its featured projects, award programs, etc., seem to focus on faddish, single-issue design work.

In my opinion, Archinect is more relevant because of Los Angeles, but Architizer allows Architects to make a series of project databases to showcase work.

In relevant tangent, the COP26 is a markee in Architectural planning; we need to choose wisely and correct a few giant mistakes in Architectural work like companies designing airports out of wood then having the prominence to feature their work as industry success or firing the correct work.

Well, I guess they’re much the same, really, (Architizer and Archinect), serving as networking opportunities, sort of, for professionals or wanna-bes, largely to facilitate echo chambers disseminating
the often silly current trends that obsess relatively small cohorts.

We are always looking to unearth useful resources for detailing the surrounding context of architectural visualizations, including high-res cut-out people, trees and HDRi skies. But what about the buildings themselves? To create truly compelling renderings, it is essential to use believable textures, complete with the blemishes of weathering and aging that naturally occur in the real world.
