COVID19 ArchMap

Mapping COVID-19 related architecture projects

The ArchMap has moved. Visit the new page to see the latest project data >

The COVID-19 ArchMap provides information on health care facilities—including alternative care facilities—around the globe responding to the COVID-19 pandemic. AIA’s task force developed the map—in partnership with the Kansas University Institute of Health + Wellness Design—to help identify solutions to growing bed surge needs and to support the development of design best practices for alternative care sites that support pandemic response. Architects, designers, engineers and facility owners are asked to contribute current, in progress or completed COVID-19 projects—as well as collaborative initiatives addressing the pandemic—to AIA’s repository. Project information will appear on the COVID-19 ArchMap.

As we navigate this unprecedented crisis in our global community, AIA is committed to equipping our members with the information they need to help navigate these uncertain times. This page includes information from a newly launched and constantly growing database and a link contribute. It's intent is to build awareness around ongoing projects and resources to connect to similar efforts nationally.

If you need to make changes/updates to an existing entry please email aah@aia.org

AIA’s task force also developed a set of Alternative Care Sites Preparedness tools.  For all US States and territories preparing for the arrival of patients with COVID-19, hospitals and public health agencies must ensure appropriate Alternative Care Sites (ACS) in both healthcare campus and community settings. The goal of these assessment tools is for architects to help hospital and other public health agencies identify appropriate adaptive reuse sites such as convention centers, sports arenas, community centers, hotels, dormitories, or other spaces for occupancy during the pandemic.

The AIA has provided the COVID-19 ArchMap and the data provided in it for informational purposes only. The data has been provided by firms and individuals through the COVID-19 Project Survey. The AIA has not verified or otherwise confirmed the accuracy of the information submitted.
