Who we are

The AIA Technology in Architectural Practice Knowledge Community (TAP) serves as a resource for AIA members, the profession, and the public in the deployment of computer technology in the practice of architecture. TAP leaders monitor the development of computer technology and its impact on architecture practice and the entire building life cycle, including design, construction, facility management, and retirement or reuse.

2015 TAP Innovation Awards Program Category: Delivery Process Excellence Award Recipient Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Lab Ayers Saint Gross Jury Comments: This is state of the art BIM practice implemented at the University of Delaware. A science lab federated model shared with fabricators, system coordination, a wide array of applications/software, and robotically controlled bulldozers. The open exchange of IFC files between design and construction are important. Innovations that also caught the jury’s attention included mobile screens and an open exchange of files between design and construction.
