AIA AAH Deep Dive: Buildings as Products: Bending the Cost Curve While Increasing Quality
March 17, 9:00-10:30am, Cost: $75
As health providers seek to lower operational costs, their real estate teams seek to lower capital and maintenance costs of across facilities. Through investment in building standards and prototypes, organizations can shift project delivery from bespoke, time intensive solutions to a manufacture ready kit of parts uniquely authored by and for an organization, affording enhanced efficiency in labor and material costs across multiple sites of care.
Discover the foundations for developing a building standards program and the shift in project delivery when implementing a manufacturing approach. Learn from healthcare organizations such as Kaiser Permanente, who have implemented templated facility prototypes.
Thank you to DPR Construction for sponsoring this deep dive session.
AIA AAH Facility Tour: North Coastal Live Well Health Center
March 17, 11:30am-3:00pm, Cost: $75
The North Coastal Live Well Health Center houses community health partners and behavioral health service programs. The facility ambitiously combines related services in one central location to serve a common population. In grouping behavioral health services, including a Crisis Stabilization Unit, both Mental Health and Substance Use Outpatient programs, and a Mental Health Clubhouse, into a single building, individuals seeking care have better access to their service needs, alleviating unnecessary pressures and easing the care process.
The Health and Human Services Agency’s commitment to promoting wellness, self-sufficiency, and a better quality of life to families inspired our team to incorporate human-centric strategies throughout the design, including wellness and sustainability. Powered entirely by the sun and using no fossil fuels, the facility has achieved LEED Platinum Certification and is the only Zero Net Energy (ZNE) project listed in California that is a County-owned medical office.
