    Dear Design Professional:

How do you design crime prevention and security in the built environment and reduce premises security negligence liability

The answer is CPTED - Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design.

Every day, some opportunistic crime may have been deterred or prevented if CPTED practices were used in the design. You can do something about it and get continuing education credits while you do! Make a positive, proactive difference in making your city or neighborhood safer. Now is the time to register. You have only a few days left to do so.

This course teaches you that with proper design and effective use of the physical environment, you can achieve more productive use of space and reduce the opportunity for crime and terrorism. I've included more course details below. You can sign up now.

Stay tuned for more information of the new Florida State Bill 837 which requires a security CPTED survey for all multi-family apartment buildings by a Certified CPTED Practitioner. Designing Safe Communities with CPTED

The Designing Safe Communities with CPTED course teaches the student that with proper design and effective use of the physical environment, you can achieve more productive use of space and yield a reduction of opportunity for crime and terrorism. CPTED strategies are ideal for Law Enforcement Officers, Architects, Urban Planners, Property Managers, Government leaders, Landscape Architects, Security Consultants, or anyone involved in designing safe neighborhoods, schools, mixed-use housing, managing real estate, government buildings, or planning critical infrastructure. Cities throughout the United States and the world are adopting CPTED ordinances requiring site plan reviews with crime prevention and security features in mind. Upon successfully completing the course, the student will receive designation as a CPTED Practitioner and will have completed hands-on practice in conducting CPTED assessments, plan reviews, and fieldwork. The Designing Safe Communities with CPTED course includes forty hours of instruction in basic and advanced Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) skills.

This course is qualified for Continuing Education Credits with various trade and professional associations, including:
