    Designing Safe Communities with CPTED

The Designing Safe Communities with CPTED course teaches the student that with proper design and effective use of the physical environment, you can achieve more productive use of space and yield a reduction of opportunity for crime and terrorism. CPTED strategies are ideal for Law Enforcement Officers, Architects, Urban Planners, Property Managers, Government leaders, Landscape Architects, Security Consultants, or anyone involved in designing safe neighborhoods, schools, mixed-use housing, managing real estate, government buildings, or planning critical infrastructure. Cities throughout the United States and the world are adopting CPTED ordinances requiring site plan reviews with crime prevention and security features in mind. Upon successfully completing the course, the student will receive designation as a CPTED Practitioner and will have completed hands-on practice in conducting CPTED assessments, plan reviews, and fieldwork. The Designing Safe Communities with CPTED course includes forty hours of instruction in basic and advanced Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) skills.

There has never been a more important time to be knowledgeable about designing security into the built environment, and protecting our businesses, schools, hospitals, and cities from the mass shootings, workplace violence, civil unrest, vehicle ramming attacks, and malicious flash mob robberies that are occurring. The next CPTED Practitioners On-Line, E-Learning Course is scheduled for Jan. 8 – April 26, 2024.
