If you have been a member of the Public Architects Knowledge Committee for a while, or are new to our discussion group, now is the time to step up to a leadership role.  What does the PAKC do?

    • promote excellence in public architecture and the role of the public architect
    • organize education events that expand knowledge of best standards of practice for public facilities at multiple scales - municipal, state and national
    • lead and host the Public Architects Symposium (see current program here)
    • interact with national AIA staff, Knowledge Communities, Board Committees, and others around key issues relating to AIA and the value of public architects within the institute and in their communities.

Volunteers typically serve a five-year term and participate in one-hour, once-monthly calls, with one to six hours/month average commitment for special projects.  The application process is simple - see this website to consult the AIA resources and send a letter of interest to our staff liaison.  The application cycle opens on May 31st.  If you have any questions about volunteering, please reply to this list or privately.

I sincerely hope you will join the leadership team and expand your service to the profession and the public good - more hands make light work.
