We are issuing several new modified drawing sheets to the set with the modified areas clouded and identified in the revision block of the title block.  The revision has a date in the revision block. The title block has a date when the drawings were initially issued. What date goes in your stamp?

I would put the date of the revision or the date of signing. If you used the original drawing date, someone might say that the revisions are not covered by the stamp.

John there are several options that you could choose.  I would enquire with the state License Board of Virginia and request if they have a best practice method or preferred method for doing this.  The other option is to sign in the seal stamp the date the revised drawing is issued, or re-issued with a note some where near the stamp seal when they were first sealed.  Confirming with state of Virginia architectural state law practices, you probably have several ways to do it.

    Best of Luck.

John, some states require that both physically and electronically transmitted documents require that the date the signature and the seal are affixed be placed immediately adjacent to the signature.

When I sealed documents (I'm now retired) I would always sign and then date them the day I put the seal on the drawings or into the Revit file title block for jurisdictions that allowed digital document transfers.  This was an office standard.

Also, for Revit produced documents, putting the date the seal and signature is affixed will allow you to track any subsequent changes that could occur between the timer of your sealing/signing/dating the set to when the docs are transmitted / submitted.

Check your state architectural practice regulations.
