Who we are

The AIA Technology in Architectural Practice Knowledge Community (TAP) serves as a resource for AIA members, the profession, and the public in the deployment of computer technology in the practice of architecture. TAP leaders monitor the development of computer technology and its impact on architecture practice and the entire building life cycle, including design, construction, facility management, and retirement or reuse.

  • 1.  Chicago Innovate Tech - recap

    Posted 11-22-2022 11:30 AM
    Hello everyone,

AIA TAP was busy last month. One of our objectives this year was to bring more awareness to the AIA Tech in Arch Practice as part of the AIA Knowledge Community.
A quick recap from last month's symposium. Architecture | Chicago Innovate Tech 2022 | Chicago
The event's keynote was Rob Otani, Core Studio - Thornton Tomasetti. Rob is no stranger to technology development and innovation in the AEC industry. His talk kicked off the event incredibly well and led into the next series of discussions about material innovation, startups, some practice discussion and something new entering our space, Blockchain and NFT's.
Our AIA TAP discussion points included bringing about awareness of what the TAP committee does as part of the larger AIA Knowledge Community. Also of the Innovation Grant Program and the 3 - $5000 grants we give away to innovators in practice. We discussed how BCC is integrating with the National AIA conference in June 2023. Lots of great feedback and we had several people fill out some request forms later during the week.
It was a great event! If you have any questions, please interact in the comments section!
    Cheers!
