AIA works with faculty, staff and students; practitioners; and collateral organizations to support excellence in education and research, expand the pathway to the profession, and prepare future architects. AIA regularly pools resources with AIAS, ACSA, NCARB, NAAB, and others to provide scholarships, educational programming, research, resources, and more.

    Announcing the Keynote Speakers for the 2023 Symposium by the AIA Regional and Urban Design Knowledge Community (RUDC). This year, we delve into the theme, "Cities in Transition: Designing for a World in Flux"-examining the volatile changes affecting urban environments today. Join us on October 19-20 in Washington, DC for a dynamic two-day event featuring presentations, panel discussions, and on-site project tours.

    Meet Our Esteemed Keynote Speakers:

    • Jonathan Barnett, FAIA, FAICP: Urban Design Consultant & Professor of Practice Emeritus at the University of Pennsylvania. He will discuss "Climate Response: How Can Cities Increase Their Resilience to Climate Change?"
    • Gia Biagi, Principal of Urbanism at Studio Gang: Former Commissioner of the Chicago Department of Transportation. She will explore "Adapting for Tomorrow: How Can Public Spaces Prepare for Future Challenges?"
    • Nico Larco, AIA: Professor of Architecture and Urban Design at the University of Oregon. He will address "Tech Impact: How are Emerging Technologies Transforming Our Cities and Work?"
    • Andre Brumfield, Assoc. AIA: Cities & Urban Design Leader, Principal at Gensler. He will examine "The Urban Shift: How are Downtowns, Neighborhoods, and Suburbs Changing?"
