John joined LS3P Associates Ltd. (then know as Neal Prince + Partners) in 2005, after having previously served as a principal in Charleston based Epps Edwards Architects. He was born in Charleston, South Carolina and raised near Greenville, South Carolina. Together with Scott Crichton, he leads the creative team of architects and designers who comprise the LS3P | Neal Prince Studio which is focused on Custom Residential Architecture.
Over the course of John's career, he has gained experience in the design and management of a variety of projects types but ultimately chose to focus primarily on Custom Residential Architecture (in historic urban contexts, in workforce environs and in exclusive resort communities). He has completed several award honored projects with complex planning, site, budget and time-of-delivery constraints in collaboration with LS3P | Neal Prince Studio and with former business partner Robert Epps.
His guidance and community leadership have aided several organizations including Greenville Pickens Area Transportation Study (GPATS) Advisory Committee and Greenville’s Design & Preservation Commission (DPC) and the Design Review Board (DRB), where he presently serves as Vice Chair. John is a charter member of the Greenville Chapter of AIA-CRAN.
His career-long commitment to quality workforce housing has helped to significantly improve the design of Greenville’s affordable housing inventory. John has also served as President of the Greenville Spinners Bicycle Club and as President of the Heritage Historic District.
When away from the office, John can typically be found gardening, bicycling around the upstate, touring historic sites or simply enjoying the outdoors in the company of friends, family and his two Tibetan Terriers.
