Changes to the campus at Green Hill School (GHS) in Chehalis, Wash., are driven by two enacted legislations: extension of the youth age to 25 and Executive Order 18-01 to design and construct all new state buildings with or capable of net zero carbon emission. The aging juvenile campus has worked for years to replace or heavily renovate buildings. The detriment of the existing recreation building created a serious need to adapt the building to simultaneously engage with multiple classifications, enabling advanced and longer exercise for youth. Rooted in fundamental research and evidence-based practices of self-efficacy, wellness, and life skills, the building and campus yards will provide opportunities for youth development and preparation for life beyond GHS. As the first project scheduled for completion under Executive Order 18-01, the building and its interior pool will be the first net zero carbon emission pool facility in the country.01:26:23
