Friday, October 4th. The CAE research call featured Dr. Lesley-Ann Noel, the Associate Director for Design Thinking for Social Impact and Professor of Practice at the Taylor Center for Social Innovation and Design Thinking at Tulane University. She presented her research and processes in the field of critical design thinking with an emphasis on emancipatory and process. Emancipatory research makes space for many different peoples' stories and experiences to be considered with equal weight. It is about shifting power relations, redistributing power and sharing it.

She featured her work with students in Trinidad and Tobago, Stanford's d.school and Tulane University. She introduced some of the tools has has developed such as the The Designer's Critical Literacy Alphabet, a set of cards which introduces theories for each letter and asks question to help make a connection between theory and practice.
