Who we are

Universal Design has been defined as “the design of products and environments to be usable by all people, to the greatest extent possible, without the need for adaptation or specialized design.” This definition was developed by the architect Ron Mace, FAIA, an architect and the founder of the Center for Universal Design at N.C. State University. In recent years, architects and designers in the US and abroad have come to recognize significant and growing overlaps between Universal Design principles and emerging values of social and environmental sustainability.

Leadership in Housing: Creative Strategies for Healthy Neighborhoods

This day-long, interactive session will focus on issues specific to multifamily residential architects, including both affordable and market-rate projects. We will go in-depth on timely topics such as best practices and innovative projects, designing for an aging population, new accessibility codes, occupant health, and critical partnerships for success. The session will focus on the expanding role of the architect in addressing critical technical issues while producing beautiful buildings that are well suited to their place and inhabitants.
