I am proud to announce we have started the first California Knowledge Community. We have a steering committee together including Paul Welch, the Executive VP of California AIA, three members or Redwood Empire Chapter, two of San Mateo Chapter, two of Orange County Chapter and a member of San Francisco Chapter. Please contact me if you want to participate in this effort. There are 22 Chapters and 11,000 members in California alone!! Most of the homes in the Bay Area at least are designed by architects due to factors like steep hillsides, poor soil, Design Review Boards, earthquakes. wildfire zones, etc! Also if you'd like to start a CRAN Committee in your chapter anywhere in the country contact me. I am chairperson of the membership committee of the National Advisory Group. We can set you up with toolkits to get started and advice! Would really like to see CRAN Committees in every state! Save the dates of August 22 to 25 for our annual Symposium in Santa Fe! Have some outrageous homes set up to tour and speakers to listen to! ------------------------------------------- John Stewart AIA Stewart Associates Architects San Carlos CA stewartassocaia@ aol.com 650-787-2656 -------------------------------------------

    John,

Congratulations on this effort. I know you and Paul have put a lot of time and thought into this and it looks like you guys are ready to take off! We look forward to have the California CRAN share their experiences with the rest of the country.

Kudos to you John!  This bodes well for our many members in California working with homeowners in shaping their living environments - both within the confines of historic fabric, as well as with new construction.
    Cheers
