    As simple and basic as this sounds, I find it hard when I see buildings designed with the exact same glazing type used on all four orientations with very little thought to glare, visual comfort and heat gain.

    I always assumed in my practice that if you select a glazing type, you optimize for the space, the occupants, and their use of the space. It may be required by code in the future that we optimize for visual comfort.

    What are the barriers to providing optimized glazing and fenestration?

    Cost, maintenance, inventory, constructability?
