Speakers

Russell Davidson, FAIA
AIA national president Russell Davidson is leading the AIA delegation to the once every 20 years United Nations Habitat conference to be held in Quito, Equador. Davidson has maintained a special focus on government and public advocacy for architects and architecture. Davidson practices with KG&D Architects in Mount Kisco, N.Y., where he has worked for 28 years, holding every position from junior draftsperson to managing principal. Davidson earned a degree in Architectural Aesthetics from Union College in Schenectady, N.Y., and a MArch from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y.

Kathleen Gordon, Assoc. AIA
Executive Director, AIA Baton Rouge Kathleen Gordon is actively leading the involvement of architects in current recovery efforts in Louisiana. She holds a BArch from Louisiana State University

David Perkes, AIA
David Perkes is an architect and Associate Professor at Mississippi State University. He is the founding director of the Gulf Coast Community Design Studio, a professional outreach program of the College of Architecture, Art + Design. The design studio was established soon after Hurricane Katrina and is providing planning and architectural design support to many Mississippi Gulf Coast communities and non-profit organizations.

Kathleen Dorgan, FAIA
Moderator
Kathleen Dorgan is an architect and urban planner who specializes in sustainable participatory community design and development. Her work includes design of high-performance housing, main street revitalization, structuring green initiatives, resilience and technical assistance to not-for-profit organizations and public agencies. She received a Harvard Loeb Fellowship and is a past chair of the AIA Housing Knowledge Community, the Association for Community Design and the AIA Housing and HUD Secretary’s Awards Juries. Ms. Dorgan is active in volunteer groups and is a frequent speaker, instructor and writer about green design and incremental community renewal.
