GROUP 7 OF THE AIA CULTURE COLLECTIVE continues to dig into the possibility of a stronger value proposition for the AIA and the profession. In the next weeks, we will post comments from our correspondents that you may find thought provoking. If so, please reply -- with gusto!! "Do you go to a doctor because of value? Do you use an attorney because of value? No. Professional advice is used because we need it. There is no other reasonable choice. All of AIA efforts should be going towards the day when any construction requiring a building permit cannot be performed without an architect." Mark Robin AIA Mark Robin Architecture Nashville TN "Trying to convince the world that an Architect license means someone is a great designer will fall on deaf ears, mine included, some of the best designers I know are not licensed Architects. The AIA needs to push municipalities to require the Architects have Professional liability insurance (just like the Plumbers, Electricians, General Contractors)." Look forward to the conversations Mike.  I find the 'business of architecture' in many ways increasingly challenging as a small practitioner, and look forward to ideas and actions that others have explored to align more closely with current market conditions and perceptions.

While I feel that AIA's new Public Relations and Digital Transformation efforts will help move us in the right direction as a profession over time, I believe I also must continue to search for more immediate business adjustments to be aligned more directly with sustainable prosperity.

    Cheers
