New Guidance for IAQ in Multifamily Housing

Good Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) is critical to protecting health and ensuring comfort for building occupants. When upgrading multifamily housing, it's important to track the impacts that the changes will have on IAQ.

The US Environmental Protection Agency is now making that job easier with its new voluntary guidance publication, Energy SavingsPlus Health: Indoor Air Quality Guidelines for Multifamily Building Upgrades. EPA’s release also includes a useful Excel-based Multifamily Checklist Generator Tool to track progress.

With recommended actions for managing pollutants, improving ventilation, and controlling moisture, these tools will be very useful for architects seeking an easy way to untangle the complex impacts that design decisions have on IAQ.
