2013 CAFM Scholarship Opportunity

CAFM is now accepting applications for it's 2013 scholarship program. All applications must be postmarked by March 22, 2013. Two (2) $4,000 scholarships will be awarded in June 2013. 

The AIA Corporate Architects and Facility Management (CAFM) scholarship is administered in conjunction with the staff of National Architectural Accrediting Board-approved programs of architecture in the United States and RAIC Canadian schools of architecture.

The AIA members serving on the CAFM Scholarship Advisory Group will select the recipients on the basis of academic performance, the recommendation letter, portfolio work and the essay.

The AIA Knowledge Communities sponsor amazing events at the annual AIA National Convention. Find out more on AIA KnowledgeNet about our 2013 programming, which includes educational tours, awards receptions, hands-on workshops, comprehensive seminars, and hybrid networking opportunities. Here are some highlights.

The 2013 AIA Public Architects Workshop

This pre-convention workshop explores the roles, responsibilities and leadership of and by architects who are involved in the planning, design and construction of public buildings. Management, collaboration, emerging trends and technology tools that are part of the leadership acumen practiced by public architects will be highlighted by various presentations.Workshop registration includes breakfast, lunch, and the Public Architects Workshop reception (EV105).

Workshop Registration includes:
Continuing education seminars and show floor education; entrance to AIA Expo2013; the three keynote presentations; and the Public Architects, Corporate Architects and Facility Management, and Academy of Architecture for Justice Reception (EV105). Educational tours, guest tours, and events are available at an additional cost.

To register, select the Public Architects Workshop package. Those who wish to attend the Public Architects Workshop register for $700 on or before April 10, for $750 on or before May 22. After May 22, the full/onsite registration fee of $800 will apply.

Faith & Form/IFRAA International Religious Art and Architecture Awards Reception

Join the AIA Interfaith Forum on Religion, Art and Architecture (IFRAA) and Faith & Form magazine for an awards reception that will present and celebrate outstanding designs that represent the best of building, space, and art on national and international levels. Religious buildings and spaces are bridges between the sacred and the secular—ranging from small chapels to large complexes that include worship spaces, offices, and community outreach facilities to serve the community at large. The Faith&Form / IFRAA International Religious Art and Architecture Awards honor all of the built dimensions of sacred space.

For more than 15 years, the AIA/COTE Top Ten Green Projects awards program has recognized the benefits of sustainable design and acknowledged the role of architects as leaders in the creation of environmentally responsible design solutions. Join AIA colleagues and allied professionals to toast the 2013 AIA/COTE Top Ten Green Projects award recipients, this year's excellent jury, and the contributions of more than 9,000 COTE members and 65 state and local chapters that have helped make COTE an agent of change. Discuss issues facing residential practitioners and share your insights gained from practice in this moderated open forum. Attendees will also learn about the residential architect's voice at the AIA: the AIA Custom Residential Architects Network (CRAN). This event affords an opportunity to learn about CRAN's history, current initiatives, and how you can become involved. CRAN is a national AIA Knowledge Community open to all that provides support, advocacy, and education to the profession and the public on matters of custom residential design.

Join the 2013 recipients of the AIA Housing Awards, AIA/HUD Secretary's Awards, and residential architect magazine Design Awards as we honor and celebrate excellence in housing and community design.

►  Advance Registration for Seminars

Register in advance for continuing education seminars and be guaranteed a seat! On-site registration will be available. However, seminars may be sold out prior to the convention. You are strongly encouraged to register for seminars when you register to attend convention. 

Registration for your preferred seminar does not obligate you to attend that particular seminar. If any seats for the seminar remain unclaimed 10 minutes before it begins, then attendees who did not pre-register will be admitted on a first-come, first-seated basis.
