Does anyone have an example they can share with me of an Emergency Department on a floor higher than grade?  I would appreciate the name of the facility so I can share that with an Owner.  Thank you.

University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston Texas. The ED is elevated to the second floor in order to avoid periodic flooding threats.

The Lurie Children's Hospital has their ED above street level. Tight urban site drove it up above grade. Check into it.

Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Partnership (ZGF); Solomon Cordwell Buenz; and Anderson Mikos Architects Ltd. were selected to design the new, state-of-the-art Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago.

For reasons similar to the Univ of Texas - many New Orleans Hospitals ahve their ED above grade.  Some of them at the second level - they include - East Jefferson General Hospital, Ochsner Baptist, New Orleans East & Interim University Hospital.

St. Vincent Medical Center in Little Rock Arkansas has a level 2 Emergency Department. I recommend if you do this that you dedicate an elevator and segregate interior & exterior traffic appropriately for ambulance traffic only.
