We are in a period of transition which , as yet, their has emerged no clear leader. Most of the larger architectural firms have their own advocates and connections. For a small firm I see a diminishing returns with the Crowdsourcing as a way of practice. The business and art of architecture is already difficult. Yes the small jobs are better served by the public appeal for design services. In reality the general battle line is between those who know nothing of the effort and knowledge necessary for the design process to be "excellent" and those who practice an attain a level of professionalism. Most of the time services of this type are a cheap replacement for interpersonal contact that is necessary for communication on a project. I see young people who are good at Revit but can not think in terms of design. Also, I would ask the question can these idea of allowing the client to run the design is a good idea for the future of Excellence in Architecture?
