Interesting article. I work a lot with charter schools here in DC. Since they have quite a bit of autonomy from the city standards they are often interested in pushing the boundaries of "traditional" education environments. As far as I know there is nothing here like the Brightworks school, but more and more programs are looking to include maker-spaces, innovation labs, and learning commons.
