Bio
Clarice is an intern architect with the Maitland, Florida office of CDM Smith, a global, full-service consulting, engineering, construction and operations firm. She assists with design development and preparation of architectural drawings, construction documents and specifications as well as interdisciplinary coordination for a variety of project types and clients. She has played an integral part in the office’s pursuit of sustainable projects and has been or is currently the LEED Administrator on five LEED projects. She has completed NCARB’s IDP and has passed 5 sections of the ARE.
Throughout college Clarice was an active member of her school’s AIAS Chapter. She joined the AIA as an associate member in January of 2007 recognizing the importance of the organization to the profession. As an active participant in her local Orlando Chapter she helped establish the Committee on Environment (COTE) and participated in the activities of the YAF group. Wanting to help strengthen the meaning of Associate AIA and do what she could to change the sometimes negative perception of that member class, she looked for a way to get involved in a leadership role. She was elected to serve as the 2009-2011 Regional Associate Director for the Florida/Caribbean Region on the National Associates Committee (NAC) and served as the Community and Communications Portfolio Director of the NAC in 2011. The Community and Communications Portfolio is responsible for the communication channels and initiatives of the NAC, informing the Associate membership of news, announcements and activities or initiatives that impact Associates. Clarice also served as the NAC representative on the Strategic Direction Group (SDG).
Currently Clarice is serving as Editor of AssociateNews, a publication being revived by the NAC. She also serves as one of the Associate member representatives to the AIA National Membership Committee. With somewhat relaxed obligations compared to previous years, Clarice has become once again active in her local component, serving as a YAF/EP Co-Director for AIA Orlando.
In addition to her involvement in the AIA, Clarice is active within the USGBC Central Florida Chapter. She assisted with the development of a local Emerging Green Builders Group (EGB), now called Emerging Professionals (EP), and served on the Board of Directors as the Director of Scholarship from June 2009 - June 2012. From 2010 through April 2012 she also served as the Senior Representative for the chapter on the Florida-Caribbean Regional Committee.
