Description:

This AIA CAE 2011 Design Awards Webinar is intended to extend concepts about educational facility planning and design to CAE members as well as others interested in the design of learning environments. The AIA CAE Design Awards webinar will share ideas that exhibit innovation and excellence of the client's educational program through responsive and responsible programming, planning and the design of learning environments. In other words, understanding the learning environment beyond the aesthetic where the function and surrounding regional and community context are valued as part of a participatory planning and design process.   This webinar will showcase three AIA CAE Design Award Winning Projects: The Learning Spring School in New York City; The Springfield Literacy Center in Springfield, Pa; and Mesa Community College Red Mountain Campus- Saguaro Building, Arizona. Members from the design team for each of these projects will share on how they furthered the client's mission, goals, and educational program. For this, the entire story will be told with respect to how each project was conceived, programmed, planned, designed, built, inhabited, and evaluated. This webinar may not necessarily showcase entire projects, but rather select elements from projects which highlight the best aspects of design.
