The building industry and architecture is going through a transformation. The sharing of data in an interoperable format enables collaboration across multiple teams. This webinar will demonstrate how project data from two owners, the Foundation for California Community Colleges and Kaiser Permanente, share project data from early design, through construction and into the life-cycle. Sharing project data is commonly seen as a challenge, but the reality is that it is possible to move data between BIM and other tools and effectively use it on projects today. Learn how the building industry can effectively use big data and BIM. Presenters will include, architects, builders, engineers and owners. In a recent BIMStorm, 155 teams used over 35 tools to collaborate with BIM. This webinar will show some of the results.

Technology Topics to be addressed: Building Information Modeling (BIM), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Construction Operations Building Information Exchange (COBie), Facility Management and Operations, Web Services, BIG Data

Learning Objectives

  1. Learn what type of BIM data owners are providing to AEC teams and what type of results they are hoping for.
  2. Learn how interoperability will enable sharing of data across any tool and how you can help to accelerate the capability of the BIM tools.
  3. Learn how sharing of data with remote teams can foster collaboration in a charrette environment.
  4. Learn what is possible today using BIM to collaborate. See how obstacles in sharing of data are overcome.

AIA/CES Reporting

At the conclusion of the webinar, a link to a survey/CES report form will be provided. All attendees at each site will submit one form: 1) page one: webinar survey and 2) page two: CES report form. The survey must be completed within 24 hours of the webinar’s conclusion. AIA members and IDP record holders (http://www.aia.org/FreeTranscriptsforInterns) will have their credit recorded within 48 hours of the webinar. All attendees will be prompted to download a certificate of completion at the end of the survey.

Viewing the Presentation Later

Look for the video recording of the webinar on the AIA National YouTube channel. At this time, it will not be available for on-demand CEUs after the live event.
