Andrew, I agree with your read of Graves' essay. His main point is neither outrageous nor technophobic, nor does it reflect badly on other architects.
The only thing that bothers me is that the
New York Times seems to think there's something publishable about the essay. It's no better than any of us could have written. I have to assume they believe their readers are mesmerized by his former starchitect status, which is off-putting for me.

Hardly, Jared.
While perhaps he did pontificate a bit, I would not have expected less. I do not think Graves dissed computers in architecture and by association made our community seem like Luddites, but rather he was lamenting the fact that drawing by hand is becoming less and less prevalent in our industry. Perhaps it is generational perspective, but I agree with him.
