For the ninth week in a row, the AIA Academy of Architecture for Health's Research Initiatives Committee has just downloaded another new "bench-marking" case study. This 2019 AIA/AAH Healthcare Design Award winning project is the Studio Dental II located in San Francisco, California by Montalba Architects. This project is very interesting for its inviting "zen-like" sculptural design that provides a soothing and calming respite from the busy urban storefront location. At the same time, the storefront opens up to a compelling "lantern" image that creates a sophisticated and inviting dialogue with its very urban location. The floor plan is efficient in its layout and overall functional flow, while creating a very comforting separation of public and private zoning; which is seems remarkable for such a small space. We have added the introductory 2-page spread to peak your interest. Go to the Library to see the rest of this Case Study.
The American Institute of Architects recognized the project as one of the best in the nation, awarding it a 2019 AIA/AAH Healthcare Design Award.
We now have thirty-eight (38) Case Studies of the 2013 through 2019 AIA Academy of Architecture for Health's Award Winning Projects in the Library. We have drafted, and continue to draft, more of the 2018 and 2019 Award Winning projects Case Studies; and several of those will also be submitted over the next few weeks.
