Who we are

The Committee on Architecture for Education (CAE) is a Knowledge Community of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). We are a large and active group of over 10,000 architects and allied professionals concerned with the quality and design of all types of educational, cultural, and recreational facilities that promote lifelong learning in safe, welcoming and equitable environments. The CAE’s mission is to foster innovative and collaborative design of educational facilities and to heighten public awareness on the importance of learning environments.

  

CAE discussion panel: Breaking Down the Silos, In Conversation with Transformational Leaders

On Friday June 5th, the CAE Research ThinkTank hosted a discussion with Kathy Hoffman, State Superintendent of Public Instruction for the state of Arizona, Dr. RJ Webb, Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction for Novi Community School District and Aaron Jetzer, Principal of Eastwood Elementary School in Irvine California.

The panel was moderated by Dina Sorensen, Assoc AIA and Caroline Lobo, AIA, the panel discussed how transformational leadership matters in response to today's challenges in education while providing insights into both short- and long-term opportunities for change. The discussion was a chance to share strategies for engagement during the COVID-19 impacted school year and talk about where we go from here as schools begin to re-open later this year.
